1933 – Franklin D. Roosevelt as a part of his first 100 days in office, submits the Emergency Banking Act to Congress as a part of the First New Deal. This act passed Congress and was signed into law on the same day and started to stabilize the US banking system during the darkest period of the Great Depression.
